HRE Herpetology Studies
We have conducted the following herpetological studies at our HRE sites: snakes, aquatic turtles, box turtles, vernal pools, lizards, and frogs. Additionally we have some long-term studies including a study of NC Box Turtles, a Descriptive Study of Orange County NC Vernal Pools, and more.
State-Level Box Turtle Research
The Box Turtle Connection initiative of the Box Turtle Collaborative is comprised of biologists & education professionals partnering to improve understanding of and collect scientific data on populations of Eastern box turtles found in North Carolina.
Educational Research
A major component of The HERP Project involves studying people (of all ages) who become involved with our project. We are interested in how engagement with herpetology impacts people’s thoughts about science and scientists.
